How I found Reiki,
or did Reiki find me?
I’ve always been interested in discovering resources that support my health holistically.
Self care is paramount in keeping me balanced and happy.
Over the years I’d received several Reiki treatments and had wonderful healing experiences. I had kind of left it at that until early 2017 when a good friend of mine was sharing about an upcoming Reiki training at a local yoga studio. That’s when the spark ignited. My father was seriously ill at the time and I felt an intense pull to follow Reiki in hopes it could be a source of comfort that I could share with my Dad. I signed up for the course immediately that Spring. The training was scheduled for late fall. What I realize now is the Reiki was not supposed to materialize for Dad, it was for me. Dad passed on October 10th, and my training was November 4th.
Once I said YES to Reiki my life changed immediately. I believe nothing happens by mistake and that Dad’s higher self created the alignment to bring me to Reiki to help me with processing his loss and also help me heal and process my childhood trauma. This was the most loving gift my Dad could give. I feel his presence and love for me every day in a way I didn’t have access to before. The love I feel for him is timeless and spaceless and now I understand who he really was, a golden heart.
Reiki energy helps to loosen up stuck and unprocessed emotions in a gentle yet powerful way. The more Reiki I practiced the more I processed. As old energies left new, beautiful spaces developed in my spirit. I became increasingly more relaxed, creative and inspired! New ideas and passions came to the surface leading me in surprising directions that continue to delight me. A childlike sense of wonder has returned and a lightness and trust in life. Over the past 3 years Reiki has guided me to the teachers and experiences that I’ve needed to open me up to this next phase of transformation and service.
Reiki awakens us to our true self and guides us to live from our heart, grounding us in feelings of unconditional love, peace, security and harmony. This is the heart and soul of why I create and why I’m inspired to be a support for others on their path as Reiki continues to support and shape mine. My healing journey has been expansive and I want to share that positive energy with others. It would be a great honor to be a support for you, your family and the animals in your life.
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is defined as spiritual energy, or the the beautiful and loving life force that surrounds and embodies all living things. It is a gentle, yet powerful practice that allows your body to enter a space of deep relaxation where it can facilitate the natural healing process both physically and emotionally. When we experience stress, pain, illness or worry, our energy often becomes unbalanced, impeding the natural flow of energy through the body. Reiki helps to return the body’s flow of energy to its intended state of harmony and creates a state of peacefulness and calmness. In this space Reiki supports our natural ability to heal. As your energy becomes balanced and harmonized, you will begin to experience physical and emotional improvements and find peace and clarity. Because the Reiki energy is a higher vibration, your mind and body begins to also shift into a higher vibratory state, helping you make better choices and create real change.
Reiki practitioners are attuned to and then trained in the application of Reiki. We direct this energy during a Reiki session in order to help your body restore energy balance and vitality. The Reiki practitioner is trained to facilitate the flow of energy and does not dictate or manipulate it, but allows it to go where it is needed. As a practitioner I am not responsible for generating this healing energy I am simply a channel or extension cord for the Source energy to flow through. When the energy begins to flow I become one with the reiki energy, in touch with my true essence.
Because Reiki is guided by the God-consciousness, it can never do harm. It always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to create the effect that is appropriate for them. One never need worry about whether to receive Reiki or not. It is always helpful. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order experience it. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. While Reiki is not a religion, for the practitioner, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures. ~ William Lee Rand, reiki.org
How does
Reiki work?
Everything alive has energy flowing through it. This energy nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. When this flow of energy is impeded, it may cause diminished function in our emotional state or in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charges them with positive energy and raises the vibratory levels of the aura in and around the physical body. The Reiki energy flows peacefully clearing any blockage to help relieve physical and emotional tension.
The recipient of Reiki is an active participant during their treatment. They do this by setting an intention to being open to receive whatever they might need most from the session.
What does
it feel like?
Everyone has a slightly different experience however feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt, and some folks will even go into a “ Reiki Nap.” Many have a sense of feeling warmth, or feel a wonderful glowing radiance surrounding them and flowing through them. Others experience clarity and understanding or emotional release around old memories. Some folks do not experience anything at all, and that it totally ok. Regardless of whether you “feel” anything or not, the Reiki is doing its work. The energy supports the letting go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings. As these energies release from the body, they are replaced by feelings of peace and well-being. When your session ends you feel relaxed, clear and restored. The Reiki will continue working with you long after your session. My clients have shared with me, “I can’t explain it, but I feel different, more grounded, clear and happy”.
